Avengers: Blowing Steam #1
So this comic was actually commissioned for Tracy and me by SimiusMagnus, who super wanted to do a She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Spider-Man story set in the hot springs beneath Avengers Mountain. And like– sold! You know?
Like, what a great fucking idea. Just kinda spinning out of the end of Marvel’s Avengers (2018 -) #21, when the Avengers are celebrating their victory in the War of the Realms with a day off skinny-dipping.
We also kinda touch on like, why She-Hulk looks all buff and masculine again and how she can switch between her more svelt and more ripped forms. Which I gotta say, I’m not actually one of those people who hate what Jason Aaron did to the character. Even when she’s all jacked up, I think Jennifer’s still super cute. Lots of fun balancing of that in this comic, which is mostly size-play jokes, dick jokes, and– honestly, it’s just all jokes, it was super fun to write.
Also, shout out to the Dick Tracy Studio, who just randomly came in and decided to color the cover for fun. It looks. Amazing. Genuinely one of our prettiest comic covers ever.
The War of the Realms has passed, and our heroes revel in their victory by soaking in the thermal hot springs beneath Avengers Mountain. Thinking they’re alone, Captain Marvel and She-Hulk decide to have a more intimate, private celebration. Little do they realize that their personal spa isn’t as unattended as they came to believe.
